A Second Wedding Shower

Following the truck ROADEO this morning, Dave & I attended a lunch and wedding shower thrown by my pilot friends from The 99s. The tea/lunch room is inside a huge antique store in Plano. Instead of bringing out rolls, chips & salsa, etc. as a precursor to ordering, the Veranda Tea Garden brought out warm, fresh cinnamon rolls - - totally addictive :=)

Dave had a big bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup. I had fresh fruit (that was really fresh!), chicken salad, and spinach salad with a house dressing. For dessert, we had "chocolate oblivion"!

I got too busy talking and eating to take more pictures, so will post other pics when I get them from one of the gals.

Truck ROADEO

Fashioned after a horse rodeo, truck companies also have "roadeos". The driver go through an obstacle course of various items and are judged on their accuracy, whether or not they hit things, etc. There are different classes of trucks who compete against each other (box trucks, truck-tractors with 28' trailers, and truck-tractors with 51' trailers).

Dave & I went to a Ft. Worth beer distributor this morning and enjoyed watching their ROADEO.

The "shorter" trailer...

And the "longer" trailer...

Backing up. And once the driver started backing, he couldn't pull forward. He just had to maneuver both the tractor and the trailer so as to go between all the cones and stay within the lines.

Elisa

Another part-time worker at the police department decided the time had come to go back to just ONE job (like me, she works a full-time job elsewhere) and spend more time with her family.

Elisa was known for dealing with the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) and crash "accident" reports submitted by the Plano officers. After being so successful with my headpiece at the wedding shower, it was decided to create something equally memorable for Elisa. Her tiara has two Matchbox cars facing each other, as though they are going to crash. Everyone got a really good laugh at it!

Once again, we show our propensity to throw together a really good spread.

Although a couple people are missing, here is night crew.

Dave's Son Seth

Here are some other pictures from being up in Colorado last month. We made sure we spent time with both Dave's kids, to include visiting with his son who is in college in Golden (west of Denver).

Seth attends the Colorado School of Mines (which is similar to MIT). Seth is a junior double-majoring in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering with a 4.0 (and Dave is justifiably very proud of him!). Seth will be doing a summer internship with Lockheed-Martin in Denver (last summer he was at the Lockheed-Martin location near Dallas).

Seth belongs to a fraternity called Beta Theta Phi. He has recently concluded a year being house manager.

Seth, Dave, & Sam...

These two pictures are of Seth with his girlfriend of 3 years, Krista. She is also a "brainiac" in that she is double-majoring in Finance and Accounting and minoring in Mathematics. She is a sophormore at Colorado University - Boulder.

Happy Easter

Nothing like decorating eggs before making them into deviled eggs :=)
