Dave's Birthday

At the request of the birthday boy, I took him to dinner to Joe's Crab Shack. More on that in a minute.

I got him an early birthday present of an air compressor he was needing for a garage re-modeling he is currently working on. But I was also able to surprise him with a temperature-controlled travel mug. It gets plugged into the car cigarette lighter and then one can set the temperature for either a hot drink or a cooler (i.e., room temperature) drink! Pretty nifty, huh?

But back to Joe's Crab Shack :=) We stuffed ourselves on three varieties of shrimp - coconut, grilled with pico de gallo, and then shrimp stuffed with crab. Afterwards, several of the servers gathered 'round and sang 'Happy Birthday' to him. They put a bib on his back that said " Let's Get Cracking". They also gave him two metal nutcracker things you use to crack crabs with and told him to walk around the restaurant cracking his "claws". If he stopped, they said they would start singing all over again! It was an absolute hoot and he was a really good sport about it!

For dessert, we had an apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream and caramel syrup. Yum...

Luci's Visit

Luci did, indeed, make it to Dallas last weekend. We had dessert and coffee together, and I was able to give her her birthday present in person (which doesn't happen very often) as her birthday was this past Tuesday. As you can tell, the restaurant lighting wasn't very good and I wasn't successful at getting a good picture of her, either by using my camera flash or by turning it off.

I got too busy talking and not busy enough snapping shots, so I'll post some more pics once Luci sends me her - - that's a hint, Luci :=) But it was really good to see her and be able to visit for a few hours!!

Luci's Coming to Visit...

Well, I'm not exactly her main reason for coming but it counts anyways. Luci will (hopefully) be down in the Dallas area over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Can't wait to see her :=)
