Well, it's been decided. D-Day (i.e., wedding day) is going to be March 13. D-Day location will be Denver.
Here's the thought process - - in hashing out various ideas and locations for where and when and how to get married, Dave & I decided we wanted to keep it really simple and wanted to include his kids. Seth is on Spring Break from the School of Mines (where he is a junior) the week of March 9. Both he and Sam (who is 23) live in the Denver area. Since we wanted to have them stand up with us, we thought it would be easier for us to go to Denver versus try to get both of them to Dallas. And we thought it would make it a lot easier for Seth to be part of this if he was off from school rather than trying to work this around his schedule.
Dave has a friend who can perform civil weddings so John will perform the service and Seth & Sam will be our witnesses. Apparently, there is a park that is supposed to be a perfect setting for something like this so that is where we will have it. Afterwards, the five of us will go out to eat (probably lunch as we're aiming for a morning ceremony).
Renee, a friend from the police department and whom I have known close to 9 years, & I went shopping yesterday - - ostensibly to look for a simple dress as this wedding thing was NOT going to be fancy. I should know Renee better than that by now to have realized that wasn't going to happen. After looking at several stores in a local mall, we stumbled upon a dress that had been returned from someone's online purchase and hadn't yet been returned to the store's warehouse. Interestingly enough, it was also the perfect length for my 5'1" self and didn't need to be shortened! It's floor length on me and the color is cream/champagne.
Renee's husband Keith is going to make my bouquet - - fake red roses and baby's breath. with cream-colored ribbon from Michael's. Afterwards, we'll use it as a centerpiece on the dining room table.
So there you have it.
We're planning to drive back to Dallas in a pick-up truck Dave had left in Denver when he moved down to Dallas last fall (he'd left it as a spare vehicle for Seth to drive).
